Now, I know there are those of you out there going: "mysticdragon3 is advocating a Zel-Lina pairing?! But isn't she the girl that argued for the Akari-Ryouga pairing and against the Ukyo-Ryouga paring by citing the author's intention?" Yeah, yeah. I'm fully aware that the creators of "The Slayers" (Hajime Kanzaka and Rui Araizumi) are advocating an Amelia-Zel paring, and they have also been hinting since the beginning of the series that they want Lina and Gourry to get together. In fact, I bet I could even provide the argument and evidence necessary to support a Lina-Gourry paring. But that's only if I want to be objective about things. Right now, I'm declaring my subjective preference! When an author decides who they want paired up with who, they make sure to create scenes that hint that the characters are in love. Hence, the scenes, lines, and events that imply Lina and Gourry's love for each other. These types of hints inserted by the authors would be the only evidence to support the Lina-Gourry pairing. But in my opinion, if the characters were let to just be, instead of being fashioned to end up with a specific peer, then Lina and Zel would most likely become attracted to each other. They know each other so well and know how to respect each other's needs. I believe that they teach each other a lot about themselves and (as many others have said before) they balance each other's personalities. It would be great if they got together! They are both brilliant, very strong characters, and although that kind of dynamic (strong character: strong character, instead of strong character: weak character) in a relationship would be extrememly hard to write, if done properly, it would be very innovative and much more interesting/complex. At least, much more interesting than the cliche: sorceress partnered with a dumb swordsman, or the other cliche of just a strong character offset by a weak character. This latter cliche is what I believe both the Lina-Gourry and Zel-Amelia pairings to be. In the same way that the authors are getting Lina and Gourry together, they are also getting Zel and Amelia together. Both of these things, I believe, we just have to respect as their decisions. The same way we need to respect other's preferences for romantic pairings that contradict the author's intention. (The Ukyo-Ryouga or Tsubasa-Ukyo fans, for example. And even us Zel-Lina people.) But the funny thing is, although I can respect the people who support the Amelia-Zel pairing, and I can respect the authors if they want to make that decision with their work, it still makes me sick to my stomach! (Sorry!) To me, it's like your parents having intercourse. You have to accept that it happened or happens, but you JUST DO NOT want to think about it more than you have to! I'm sorry. I simply don't know why I cannot stomach the Amelia-Zel pairing. I mean, I'm OK with the possibility of Lina and Gourry together, or Ukyo and Ryouga, but the Amelia-Zel thing, just makes me sick to my stomach for some reason! And I'm one of the few who doesn't believe in killing Amelia, either! Anyway, that's my rant.

Forse i più non avranno capito una mazza, o probabilmente non ci avranno nemmeno provato...Comunque cercherò di riassumere i principali motivi per cui trovo che Lina non stia bene con Gourry e Zel con Amelia:

Principalmente Amelia è troppo superficiale e Gourry troppo stupido, Zel ha bisogno di qualcuno con cui riuscire ad avere una conversazione ed altrettanto credo per Lina! Poi Lina non ha decisamente la pazienza necessaria per dare perennemente spiegazioni a qualcuno, forse gli unici motivi per cui potrebbe stare bene con Gourry sono per il fatto che entrambi mangiano come maiali (mentre Zel mangia quel che gli serve per non crepare..), ma anche qui ho da ridire: personalmente se fossi una persona ingorda preferirei stare con qualcuno che non mangia, piuttosto che con una persona altrettanto vorace..Poi Gourry tende a dare sempre (o quasi) ragione a Lina, facendosi manovrare a piacimento, mentre Zel non è tipo da lasciarsi mettere i piedi in testa, ma questo è l'unico punto a favore di Gourry! Poi Lina e Zel hanno parecchie cose in comune: sono entrambi poco espansivi (penso che in fondo Amelia spaventi un po' Zel ^^), si ammirano vicendevolmente (accrescere il proprio superio-tirrannico non è una brutta cosa, e a Zel serve un po' di autostima poveretto!), sono intelligenti e sfruttano questo a loro vantaggio (Amelia è troppo fissata con la giustizia, e Zel sa aprire le casseforti...cosa che dice non poco!). Inoltre il motivo per cui mi piace Slayers è perchè è innovativo..ora se Kanzaka mi combina la coppie Lina/Gourry e Zel/Amelia trovo che la cosa sia decisamente scontata e banale!
